Information on Medicine Lake boat rentals and water sport activities offered by our company at all marinas. All four campgrounds offer convenient locations for enjoying all Medicine Lake offers. Head to the lake for swimming, motorized boating, jet skis, waverunners, kayaking and canoeing. Water-skiing is allowed on the lake during specified hours so reservation are required for all our services. The lake offers rainbow and brook trout fishing as long as you obtain a California freshwater fishing license first. Licenses are available from sporting good stores or bait and tackle shops in the area.
Two short trails start near the campgrounds, including the .4-mile Medicine Lake Glass Flow Trail and the .8-mile Little Medicine Lake Trail to enjoy walking and hiking. The aquamarine-colored Medicine Lake located in northern California's Modoc National Forest came into existence when part of a volcano collapsed thousands of years ago. Today, the 640-acre lake maintains its deep blue color without any water coming in or out of the lake except for rainfall and snowmelt. Camping in the area includes your choice of four national forest campgrounds located along the northeast side of the lake and reservations are suggested. Nearby lakes and reservoirs include Meiss Lake, Tule Lake, Clear Lake, and Big Sage Reservoir.
