More information about Pleasant Grove; On July 19, 1850, William H. Adams, John Mercer and Philo T. Farnsworth, arrived at the area now known as Pleasant Grove and staked out farms in what is now the southwest corner of the city.  A small community was established September 13, 1850, and Pleasant Grove was officially incorporated as a town January 18, 1855. At that time there were 623 people.

The original name of the city was Battle Creek, Utah.  The name was changed and then began calling their town Pleasant Grove after a grove of cottonwood trees located between Battle Creek and Grove Creek, near the current-day intersection of Locust Avenue and Battle Creek Drive.  A monument with a plaque describing this battle is located at Kiwanis Park, at the mouth of Battle Creek Canyon.

St. George is the population and commercial center of Utah's Dixie, a nickname given to the area when Mormon pioneers grew cotton in the warm climate. St. George's trademark is its geology — red bluffs make up the northern part of the city with two peaks covered in lava rock in the city's center.  The northeastern edges of the Mojave Desert are visible to the south.  Saint George is know for it's red rocks, and hiking areas.  Zion National Park can be seen to the east, and the Pine Valley Mountains loom over the city to the north and northwest.  The climate has more in common with the Desert Southwest than the rest of the state, with scorching hot summers and mild, mostly snow less winters.  The city has recently developed into a major retirement destination, and is a great place for water sport lessons at Sand Hollow or Quail Creek Reservoirs.  These activities could be wakeboarding, water skiing, slalom skiing, wakesurfing, kneeboarding, tubing, wake skating, or air chair instruction.  We offer all our boat charter and rental services in and around Saint George.
